Transgender children and youth are among the most vulnerable served by family court professionals. In the past nine months the position of the federal government has changed dramatically regarding care for transgender children. Judge Gould-Saltman will discuss the challenges faced by transgender children and youth, and their family members. Topics will include: (1) relevant laws and precedents regarding transgender rights and health care decisions; (2) addressing conflicting laws when there are inter-jurisdictional disputes; (3) legal impact of anti-trans movements.
