Event Description

This comprehensive in-person program covers all 8 hours of training required by California Rules of Court, Rule 5.242, to renew your status on the Minor’s Counsel panel or to become eligible to join the Minor’s Counsel panel as a new applicant. (Note: new applicants must also complete 4 hours of additional training which is offered via on-demand video.)  All interested attorneys are welcome -- but in order to attend, advance registration is required, along with a verifiable State Bar number for attorneys and an official work (non-personal) email address.

This year’s seminar will have a Judges Panel along with presentations from state and local experts.  Topics include: how to interpret the child’s voice in high-conflict cases; juvenile/dependency law crossover issues; DBT, trauma, and gender therapy; practical considerations when dealing with SRL and County-Pay cases; hearsay, privilege, and admissibility issues; a special presentation on “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” of minor’s counsel work, and more.

This year’s 8-hour training will be in-person and completed in one day.  For those of you that are new applicants to the panel, your remaining 4 hours of additional training will be available to you via recording on-demand.

Lunch, a light breakfast, snacks, and refreshments will also be provided.
