This session will provide a hands-on, ethics-grounded roadmap for integrating AI into your legal workflows. Drawing from the latest guidance including ABA Formal Opinion 512 (2024) and the California State Bar’s Practical Guidance, Jennifer will cover:
- The current state of AI adoption in law firms and among clients
- Ethical obligations under ABA and California Rules (competence, confidentiality, billing, supervision)
- Risks such as bias, hallucinations, and data exposure—and how to mitigate them
- Practical demos of tools like Microsoft Copilot and how to turn off data sharing in ChatGPT
- The CLAR prompting framework and RAG architecture for reliable AI use
- Firm-level implementation strategies including disclosure language and policy templates
